POWRRRRRRRR!

if you've noticed (which i doubt so if i never even mention...) that i've deleted the previous entry titled " :( ". sigh. perhaps i should just take things easy. like easy come, easy go. like easy-peasy! whatever.

i was reading TIME last night (i so could not get to sleep): and i read how kids today are overloaded with work - schoolwork and extra activities like piano (or crap... i mean, very useful activities like "what can you make out of recycling materials") and even more classes (cos school is not goood enuf) at those tip-top institutions... which costs a few k per semester easily.

i feel kinda stressed reading that! like woah. there's this picture showing a 7 year old girl learning biology from her tutor and i felt threatened. shyte. i know no nuts bout bio except how to spell that word "biology"! perhaps the rest of you would be very familiar with chapter 12 of sec 2 science textbook (and that's bio for you!), but i don't even remember much. i was too busy making fun of my very old and single teacher when she was teaching that chapter. so meannn, that's me (:

if this is the direction that education is pushing students, i think this could be the end of man. :/ this may sound so extreme, but what good is an education if you get all As but you don't even know how to communicate? like, no balls (guts...) to talk to that auntie selling fishball noodles; to travel on your own, to give a speech, etc (you get the idea!) cos sadly, i do know people (ok, someone) who do darn well in school but is an asshole (in my personal opinion, and yes, i'm biased) cos he doesn't know how to talk to others, and in turn, makes people (like me) very irritated and could not bother talking to him, or even look at him for that matter.

education is good. but over zealous parents should just keep a tab at the rate they're pushing their children. who the hell you expect your son to be? Lee Kwan Yew? take it easy man... they're like not even 8 years old but bearing the (work)load of two 28 years old. sigh.... such a sad life.

but anyway, this goes out to overzealous parents. which i doubt they would ever come across this blog, haha. but if you're reading this and you're going to be a parent (soon anyway), don't be so kiasu laa, please laa.

on the other hand, if you're the bo chap parents, please do something about your kids. at the rate that the kiasu parents are going (cos they don't/can't listen to my advice), your kids will be the a-sam of their children and you're going to like shine their shoes or pack their rooms. soooo, make them study. not blindly, not hard, but smartly.

why am i even talking about education?! like, ME?!! i'm quite experienced, ok.. was (still am..) a relief teacher for the past few weeks and it's kinda scaring me the stuff that students don't understand. things that i remember very clearly learning at Pri3, they are still unsure at Pri6. to be fair, there're stuff like isoceles (correct spelling?) triangle that i learn in sec1 that they have learnt in pri school... or how a k2 kid knows how to write some chinese character that i don't even know what is it.

and i realise, it's not what you're learning... but it's the mentality that you posess in the process of learning. are you kiasu? or are you bo chap? come to think of it (and the friends that i have as real life examples), kiasu students, and NOT kiasu parents, are the likely ones who succeed. it's all in the mind.

from pre-school to primary school to secondary school to jc, my mum has never ever given me any pressure at all. i remember when my neighbour was studying darn hard for our pri 1 exam, i went over to him place with him mum shouting at him to study... and i went over to ask him to play with me. and i thought, is something wrong with me or my mum?? but anyway, i think i went home and watch tv. (ok, i made that tv part up, cos i can't remember. haha!)

i'm not saying that i'm smart.... i'm just an average student, really. i don't really do my work nor study a lot, but i do study when i should. and i know when i should play or study. (near exam time lor, obviously). most of my friends are like this as well... maybe a handful with strict parents but many whom i know have parents who are pretty lax as well. what makes them do well enough to go uni? it's all in the mentality... the will to study, to excel, to at least reach your goal.

so there.

what's the point of this entry?

i heard that ping yi sec guy who was a loser but a millionaire now attended some sort of motivation camp in his teenage years which turned him 360 degrees....

WOAH. so maybe i can be one of such teacher to primary/secondary/jc/poly students... and make myself a millionaire out of it.

for more information and tips, you can contact me at royal-decree@hotmail.com (really valid one laa, i purposely created it leh!)

see, a thinking mind exploits every and any opportunity.

In my humblest opinion, the education system is in need of an overhaul. They should abolish homework, because there'll always be awesome people like us (me, rather) who neglect homework, using just their powers of 'recall' during exams. ☻
